Chapter 59 Immortality
Chapter 59 Immortality
Chapter 59 Immortality
Gotham.
An uninvited guest arrived at one of the Owl Court's locations.
This is a square as wide as the ancient Roman Colosseum, and a slave auction seems to be taking place. It's hard to imagine that such a blatant human trafficking venue still exists in the civilized world.
The place was bustling with noise and laughter, with men and women wearing white owl masks shouting and screaming hysterically. They had shed their civilized facades and were freely venting their inner darkness and naked desires.
It was at this moment that Bain barged in.
As a figure with twisted limbs and claws was thrown into the center of the square, the extravagant banquet was interrupted, and the masked, well-dressed upper class gradually quieted down.
"Wow—it seems we have a new guest at our banquet! Let him in, Claws!"
Bane lowered his head and slowly walked past several claws wielding sharp blades.
Their blades didn't falter as Bane walked past, seemingly intent on leaving a long, bloody gash on him, giving the man a small warning.
But they failed to do it.
The sharp blade tore through Bane's clothes, but didn't leave a single white mark on his body, which was like it was cast in steel. The claws felt as if they had scratched a flexible rubber tire.
Bane emerged from the entrance to the Colosseum, like a gladiator in the ancient Roman arena, and slowly walked to the center of the arena under the watchful eyes of everyone.
The highest-ranking member of the court, seated at the top, gestured to the Claws, and the live human merchandise that was being auctioned was removed.
They cried and shouted at Bain, but only received whips and beatings, which did not move the burly man in the slightest.
The court official seemed satisfied with Bain's decision not to meddle. He lowered his head slightly and pulled the microphone over:
"Bane. You rejected our offer before. How dare you show your face in front of us now?"
The sound, amplified by the loudspeakers, was deafening, and all the members of the Court of Owls in the arena stared at Bane. They were all wearing white owl masks, creating an inexplicably eerie atmosphere.
Bain's gaze lingered on a little girl wearing a mask. She seemed to sense the burly man's gaze and turned her head into her parents' arms.
"And... how did you find me...?"
Before the man wearing the white owl-beak mask could finish speaking, he was drawn to a locator that Bane had raised.
A red dot above kept flashing.
"When did you stay here...?"
The man in the white eagle-beak mask finished speaking, then suddenly realized something. He looked at a sharp claw standing silently beside him.
"Cut open his body."
With the man's crisp command, the other claws beside him acted simultaneously, quickly dismembering the claw into eight pieces.
Soon, they found a tiny locator inside the claw's neck.
The leading member of the Owl Court slowly began to applaud.
"Surprising."
He said, "A keen eye for detail. Most people would believe someone is dead after seeing their head twisted off. But you would leave a tracking device in the body."
The court member said with some annoyance, "Damn it, you tricked me. We're a secret organization. Tell me, now that you've discovered us, what are we supposed to do with you?"
“I’ve come seeking a partnership,” Bain replied. “I’ve come to ask for Amber Gold.”
This word caused the court members standing on the platform to pause for a moment.
"Where did you hear that from... never mind, it doesn't matter."
He decisively gave the order: "Claws! Kill the intruders!"
He took the microphone, turned to the other members, and said, "I'm sorry, ladies and gentlemen, the party is ending early, we must..."
"I need to receive an implant of Amber Gold. In exchange, after I defeat Batman, take over this city, and die of old age, I'm willing to let my corpse become the claws of the Court of Owls. That's my condition."
Bain said.
The white owl masked figure on the platform stopped what he was doing.
Bain ripped the clothes off his arm, and only then did he see that the other person's body was covered with tiny plants, like vines and grass growing directly inside his flesh. Such a physical condition would make any biologist disbelieve their eyes.
What's even more striking is the other half of his body: completely opposite to the grassy side, it has an unhealthy bluish-white color.
The man with the white owl mask was very familiar with this color; the dark veins hidden beneath the bluish-white skin were a physical condition only the dead possessed, and the claws of the Court of Owls basically all looked like this.
"Try attacking him."
As soon as he gave the order, the claws beside Bane swung their blades without hesitation and stabbed at that spot.
Bain didn't even flinch.
Under the Claw Assassin's all-out stabbing, his skin was torn open, and the blade penetrated a little bit.
The Claw Assassin slowly sheathed his blade, but no blood flowed out, as if the blade had pierced into a pile of hard leather armor.
"It's astonishing, Bane. Something has happened to you that we don't know about," the man in the white owl mask said slowly.
He changed his attitude: "Perhaps we can talk."
“That’s right,” Bane replied. He swung his fist and smashed the head of the clawed assassin who had just stabbed him into his chest, then watched as the man pulled his head out and reattached it to his spine.
He said, "I am also very interested in immortality. We would have a very pleasant collaboration."

Chen Tao stood in Batman's private training ground in the Batcave.
He closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and then silently activated the Alfred Protocol.
[Already synchronized: Broken Bat]
[Your current Crisis Energy Units: 84]
The cells were boiling, and silvery-white particles entangled on his body... then turned pitch black.
"snort!"
Chen Tao let out a muffled groan as half of his body exploded, transforming into black nanobots that instantly pierced through all the training robots in front of him!
呲!
The nanobots transformed into sharp steel blades, instantly slicing the robot in two!
However, what made Chen Tao groan was not his attack...
Negative memories of the Broken Bat are assaulting him; these negative emotions are on a completely different level compared to Banebat or the Batmobile.
Chen Tao pondered silently, but even under such a massive influx of negative emotions, he was still able to think clearly.
"That's not enough to defeat me."
Chen Tao looked at his hands: "But they're enough to interfere with my simultaneous synchronization with other Batmen."
Thank you so much, Shield-wielding Bobby-chan, for the three 10,000-coin rewards! And thank you to 2049 for the 1500 coins!
And I recommend his books:
