Chapter 34 I revere you as a god
Chapter 34 I revere you as a god
The groans that had been lingering over the century-old Mittal family mansion have been swallowed up.
Maya once again embraced Vijay's negative emotions, bringing him back to peace.
"Maya, oh Maya," Vijay sighed softly, watching the girl carrying clean water and doing cleaning work, "What would I do without you!"
"Shiva, please don't say that, Master!" Maya raised her head, her large eyes sparkling, and earnestly refuted Vijay's statement, pursing her lips: "It's because Maya has no master that she doesn't know what to do!"
That glance filled Vijay's heart with warmth, and he couldn't help but ask with concern, "Did I scare you today?"
This question opened up a floodgate of conversation for Maya, and she told Vijay everything that had happened before he returned home that day.
"I was cleaning today when Mira suddenly invited me over for tea."
"She wants to ask me about your preferences, Master."
Vijay scoffed. Sure enough, this is the kind of thing a scheming woman would do, trying to win him over by knowing himself and his enemy.
It's not that easy.
"So you're going to tell her everything?" Vijay teased with a laugh.
Maya suddenly knelt down, "I'm sorry, Master, I shouldn't have said that!"
"Get up, get up," Vijay was startled, and he rolled over to help Maya up. "I'm not angry!"
Seeing Maya's anxiety, Vijay immediately changed the subject with concern: "What else did you talk about?"
"Mira is not from this city; she comes from Gandhara in the north."
Gandhara, Vijay recalled briefly, seemed to be the northernmost city-state, already bordering the foot of the sacred mountain, quite far from his own city, and not an easy place to traverse.
"She first asked me about the local customs and traditions, then we talked about the glorious past of the Mittal family," Maya glanced at Vijay, and continued cautiously, "I only told her things that everyone already knows..."
"Then the conversation turned to you, Master. She asked me about your experiences and preferences, and told me not to be too nervous..."
"Just as it was before, it will be the same in the future."
Is this considered bribery, or is it paving the way for future developments?
What a waste of effort! Vijay scoffed.
"Then that wicked servant returned. He first loudly berated you for your arrogance, saying that you disrespected Mira and wanted to take advantage of her!"
Mira was furious on the spot and immediately ordered her servants to hang him up and whip him severely! He even dared to spout nonsense, saying that he was doing it for Mira's sake...
Hmm, it sounds like there's no problem...
But that servant seemed to hold a high position beside Mira, as he could relay messages on her behalf!
Is there some other inside story?
"And then you came back..." Maya finished her retelling, then immediately shut up to let Vijay think and process it quietly.
These few words were not enough to shake Vijay's resolve.
Moreover, such a cruel act certainly couldn't win Vijay's favor: "Maya, do you think what she did was right?"
"Of course!" Maya's answer was resolute. "As a servant, how can I make decisions for my master, or oppose him?"
"That's right!" Vijay teased, going along with Maya's point. "Maya would never do that to me."
"Master, I respect you as a god!" Maya's smile faded, and her words, spoken slowly and deliberately, deeply touched Vijay's heart.
This feeling stirred a deep emotion in Vijay that he had never experienced before.
"Experience the ultimate pleasure"
'Add 1 talent point, 2 talent points remaining.'
Ignoring the system notification, Vijay stood up and hugged Maya tightly, as if he wanted to pull her into his arms.
"Master, Mira doesn't seem like a bad person..." Maya murmured softly, feeling the warmth of Vijay's embrace.
She brainwashed my Maya so quickly! This woman is too dangerous; she must leave immediately!
Vijay reaffirmed his resolve.
"Knock, knock, knock knock!" The door was being knocked on rhythmically.
Who would knock on the front door at this time?
Vijay was taken aback. His servants had their own way in and out, Mira's side also had a side gate, and there were no other retainers in the village...
Dalit? That's even more impossible!
"Master, I'll go open the door!" Maya gently broke free from the embrace and ran to the front door like a happy little deer.
"Ah!" A moment later, a gasp of surprise came from the doorway.
"Maya!" Vijay was shocked, thinking that Maya had encountered some danger. He grabbed the Kanda sword from the shelf and rushed out of the room, running to the front door in one breath.
"Maya, are you alright?" The door was wide open, and Maya collapsed to the ground, covering her mouth with her hands, her face full of terror.
Vijay instinctively followed Maya's gaze and saw a huge pupil, almost as tall as a person, appear at his front door.
Its pupils were as black as deep pools, and the whites of its eyes gleamed with a deathly gray light. Behind its enormous eyes, it had no human form. Its entire body was hidden in a wide, heavy, black robe, the hem of which hung to the ground and moved without wind. Inside, it was empty, with no outline of hands or feet visible.
Vijay instinctively drew his Kanda sword, pulled Maya up, and shielded her behind him.
"By Brahma, I apologize for startling you. Is this Mittal Vijay's home?"
The sound didn't come from the giant eye; rather, it seemed to come from the surrounding air vibrating, and the sound echoed around.
A very polite and rational tone; someone I can communicate with!
Vijay felt slightly relieved and replied to the pupil, "I am Mittal Vijay!"
"By Brahma above, we've finally found you!" the enormous pupil continued, "The venerable Brahmin priest has sent me to join your ranks!"
The enormous pupil's words immediately revealed its identity.
Brahma priest?
Vijay was well aware that the Brahma priest wanted to send someone to accompany him to the east, which was also a condition he had agreed to with the Brahma priest!
But unexpectedly, he actually sent this kind of 'person'!
Vijay scrutinized the monster before him, finding absolutely no resemblance to a 'human' in him, and had no idea what to call him.
"You can call me 'Eye'," the huge pupils seemed to see through Vijay's embarrassment, and continued to introduce himself.
He seemed very easy to talk to.
"Excuse me for asking, is the team ready?"
"Can we depart at sunrise tomorrow?"
Ah, this?
Before Vijay could recover from the shock of the enormous pupil's appearance, he was instantly thrust into another predicament by the question.
tomorrow?
They don't even know where their own team is!
Why was the Brahma priest in such a hurry?
Before they could figure out the right way to answer the question, a brief awkward silence fell over the room.
"Vannu?" Mira's surprised voice came from behind Vijay.
