Chapter 84 Lin Zhihua
Chapter 84 Lin Zhihua
Lin Zhihua was the first to come down.
I hadn't seen her for three years, and she had changed a lot. The girl I remembered who always kept her head down and spoke softly now stood up straight and had a confident smile on her face.
She was wearing a light blue cheongsam with a beige cardigan over it, and carrying a brown leather suitcase.
A handsome man followed closely behind her.
He was in his early twenties, wearing a dark gray suit, his hair was neatly combed, and he wore a pair of gold-rimmed glasses.
He was tall and slender, with a refined face and a gentle smile on his lips, looking every bit the scholar.
After getting off the bus, he naturally reached out to take the suitcase from Lin Zhihua's hand, but Lin Zhihua refused.
Lin Zhihua said something to him, and the man smiled and nodded. The two walked side by side out of the platform.
Halfway there, Lin Zhihua saw the carriage and Huang Shujian beside it.
She paused for a moment, then quickened her pace and walked over, the man following behind.
"Book and Sword!" Lin Zhihua called out, her voice clear and joyful.
Huang Shujian nodded, but his gaze fell on the man behind her.
The man looked at him, his eyes brightening slightly. He stepped forward and extended his hand.
"Young Master Huang, right? My name is Qin Mo, and I'm a friend of Zhihua."
His hand was outstretched steadily, with long, slender fingers and distinct knuckles. Huang Shujian shook hands with him.
The texture is very unique.
It was so smooth, like holding a piece of warm jade. The skin was so delicate that it didn't feel like a man's hand, much less like the hand of an archaeologist or martial artist. Archaeology involves digging, and martial arts involves developing calluses. No matter how much you take care of yourself, it shouldn't feel like this.
"I heard Zhihua mention you on the way here," Qin Mo said with a smile. "You are indeed a handsome man."
His voice was gentle, his smile was polite, and there was nothing wrong with him.
"This is Brother Qin," Lin Zhihua introduced. "I encountered robbers at Wanghai Station, and it was Mr. Qin who saved me. Later, we chatted and found out that he is an archaeologist, and I also studied archaeology. We had a very pleasant conversation."
"Brother Qin happened to be free, so I brought him back with me as a way of thanking him."
Her eyes sparkled as she said this, and her tone was filled with admiration.
Huang Shujian responded without saying anything more. He pointed to the carriage behind him and said, "Mr. Qin, please take that one."
Qin Mo nodded and tactfully walked towards the carriage behind, while Lin Zhihua followed Huang Shujian into the carriage in front.
Xiuer tugged at Zhao Ming, signaling her to go to the back to drive the carriage, while she jumped into the driver's seat of the front carriage and pulled the reins.
The carriage started moving, its wheels rolling over the stone pavement, making a steady, rhythmic sound.
Inside the carriage, Lin Zhihua sat opposite Huang Shujian, her eyes constantly scrutinizing him.
"You've grown taller and stronger; you're completely different from before."
Huang Shujian looked at her and said, "You're different now too."
"People grow and mature." Lin Zhihua smiled, her smile radiating confidence. "Studying at Wanghai University broadened my horizons, allowed me to see the world, make many new friends, and expand my perspective."
She paused, then said, "Shujian, there's not much good education in Goose City. Why don't you go to Wanghai to study? I'll talk to your tutor, and he can recommend you for admission without taking the entrance exam."
Huang Shujian shook his head: "I'm not interested."
"How can you not be interested?" Lin Zhihua asked anxiously. "The world is different now than before. We should read more books and see more of the world."
"Wanghai has electric lights and telephones, and drive-in movies. Staying in a small place like Goose City will narrow your horizons."
As she spoke, she took out a small glass bottle from her bag. The bottle contained brown powder, which gleamed dimly under the lights of the carriage.
"Look at this." She shook the bottle. "Coffee! All the rich people in Wanghai drink this; it's much more sophisticated than tea. I brought it back especially for Father and you to try."
Huang Shujian glanced at the bottle of coffee powder.
The powder is coarse and the color is dark, which is obviously a low-quality product. It may even be a fake product with added caramel and flavoring.
He looked away and didn't say anything.
Seeing his lack of interest, Lin Zhihua put away the coffee bottle and changed the subject: "I heard you were injured a month ago? I wanted to come back then, but my father said it wasn't necessary. How are you recovering now?"
Huang Shujian pressed his chest: "I'm fine now."
"That's good." Lin Zhihua breathed a sigh of relief. "Also, I heard you've started practicing martial arts?"
"It's just physical training."
"It's good to stay healthy," Lin Zhihua nodded, "but don't become addicted."
"Now everyone outside has guns, so practicing martial arts is only for poor people, unless they're like Qin Mo..."
Her eyes lit up again: "He also practices martial arts, and he's a genius! They say he's already reached the level of sexual cultivation, which sounds amazing."
"Should I talk to him and ask him to teach you a couple of tricks?"
"But you must be respectful. He can give you some pointers and help you strengthen your body, so there shouldn't be any problem."
Huang Shujian narrowed his eyes.
This Qin Mo, whom Lin Zhihua has only known for less than a day, has earned her such trust. He is her savior, an archaeologist, and a martial arts prodigy.
What a coincidence!
……
Back at the Huang family manor, Lin Zhihua took Qin Mo to see Huang Silang.
Huang Shujian didn't go with them; he went straight back to his training room.
Huang Shujian took off his outer shirt, revealing the short jacket underneath. The scar on his chest was hideous, like a centipede lying there.
He took a deep breath and got into position.
"The Green Python Coils the Mountain".
The Qi and blood circulate, rising from the Dantian and flowing along the meridians.
Huang Shujian slowly raised his hands.
Breakthrough Technique, Azure Scale Transformation!
The skin surface began to change, with fine, bluish scales appearing, spreading from the fingertips to the wrists, then to the forearms, and finally to the entire arm.
Huang Shujian squatted down, raised his hands above his head, and struck a strange pose, like a python raising its head, ready to pounce at any moment.
The green python shakes its scales.
He maintained this posture, and his whole body began to tremble, starting from the soles of his feet and moving upwards, through his spine, shoulders, arms, and finally even his scalp.
The bones made a crackling sound, like bamboo being roasted by fire.
The body's Qi and blood surged like a flood, washing over every meridian and stimulating every acupoint.
boom!
The seventh major aperture, the Jade Pillow Gate, suddenly opened.
He practiced for a while longer, until a fine sweat appeared on his forehead, before slowly stopping.
With a wave of her hand, Zhao Ming handed over a towel.
Huang Shujian wiped his sweat and asked, "Where's Xiuer?"
"They disappeared after they came back," Zhao Ming said. "They probably went to feed the baby monkeys."
Huang Shujian nodded, walked to the stone table, sat down, poured himself a cup of tea, and slowly drank it.
Ever since he first sensed the gaze of that giant python when he used the Azure Scale Transformation, no matter how much he cultivated afterward, he could no longer sense it. To the point that he even doubted whether it was just his imagination.
"It seems that giant python has been hiding quite well," Huang Shujian murmured. "I wonder how many free attribute points it can provide."
With a thought, he brought up the attribute panel.
