Chapter 147 The Mechanized Corridor
Lynch led Harry all the way to the door of a secluded classroom in the basement.
The door looked ordinary, even a bit old, and was no different from the doors of other abandoned classrooms in the underground corridor.
"Where am I?" Harry couldn't help but ask, the chilly air around him making him a little more awake.
"Do you remember the giant that rampaged through the castle on Halloween last year?" Lynch's voice was particularly clear in the empty corridor. "It was originally imprisoned here, but later it broke out and destroyed several connected classrooms."
He reached out and pushed open the seemingly heavy wooden door, the hinges creaking slightly.
"I took over these damaged classrooms, knocked them down, and completely renovated them."
"Now, this is the classroom for this semester's Magic Research class."
The view behind the door opened up dramatically—in the dim light of the torches, there was an unusually spacious Hogwarts classroom without windows. The floor, walls, and ceiling were all made of bluish-gray stone bricks, exuding an ancient and serene atmosphere.
Lin Qi snapped his fingers, and a point of light leaped from his fingertip, hovering in the center of the classroom and gradually illuminating the entire space.
Harry then noticed that there were no desks in the classroom, only rows of benches. The most striking feature was another closed wooden door at the far end of the classroom, "covered in intricate runes, from which a faint, eerie light seemed to flow."
Lynch led Harry through the entire classroom and stopped in front of the inscribed wooden door.
"Your solitary confinement task tonight," he gestured, "is to go in through this door and come out through the other door."
"You'll encounter some minor challenges along the way. Do your best to cope, and remember: your goal is to reach the other side."
"What kind of challenge?" Harry asked cautiously.
A smile appeared on Lin Qi's face: "You'll find out when you go in. I guarantee it won't be anything dangerous."
Seeing that Uncle Lynch had no intention of revealing anything, Harry stopped asking questions and drew his wand, holding it tightly in his hand.
He took a deep breath, stepped forward, and placed his hand on the wooden door engraved with runes, preparing to push it open.
The instant his palm touched the door panel—centered on the spot where his hand touched it—the runes on the door suddenly rippled like water, the ripples quickly sweeping across the entire door before disappearing behind it.
Immediately afterwards, Harry keenly heard a series of "click, click" sounds coming from inside the door, as if some dormant mechanism was being awakened.
The wooden door slid open silently, revealing a dense, impenetrable darkness behind it that swallowed all light, making it impossible to see anything.
Harry quickly turned his head and glanced warily—Uncle Lynch was still standing there calmly, his face showing no emotion.
He subconsciously twirled the wand in his hand, adjusting it to a tighter, more stable grip, his fingertips turning slightly white from the force.
Finally, he took a deep breath, as if he had made up his mind, and stepped into the darkness.
Just a few steps into the room, the wooden door behind him closed silently and quickly.
The last rays of light were completely cut off, isolating Lynch and leaving him alone in this unknown, dim space.
"boom-"
With a sudden noise, a series of torches were lit one after another, their orange flames dispelling the darkness.
Harry squinted instinctively, then his attention was drawn to the sight before him—he was standing at the entrance to an extremely ancient corridor.
Neatly arranged new stone pillars line both sides of the corridor, their stone quality consistent with the ancient style of Hogwarts Castle, with simple lines carved on their surfaces.
Scattered among the stone pillars are some wooden planks and boxes.
At the end of the corridor, you can vaguely see another simple wooden door standing quietly, which is the predetermined end of this journey.
The silence in the suddenly illuminated space lasted for less than three seconds.
Suddenly, without warning, the wall to his left flipped over, and three alchemical dummies hidden behind it simultaneously raised their arms, their palms opening into holes—
"Swish swish"!
Three thick, black liquids shot out like arrows from a crossbow in a triangular formation, completely blocking his space to dodge to the left and forward!
Harry was startled and almost instinctively lunged to his right.
Ink splattered across the hem of his robe and his back, making a few muffled "thuds" as it hit the spot where he had just been standing, splashing out a patch of black ink, with even a few drops landing on his glasses.
His heart was pounding like a drum. He had just braced himself against the ground to get up when a floor tile that his right hand was pressing on suddenly sank slightly!
Alarm bells rang in Harry's mind, and without thinking, he lunged to the side again!
"Bang!" A baton wrapped in thick padding but moving extremely fast sprang up from where his hand had been, sweeping past with a whoosh.
If you are hit in the wrist, the wand may slip from your hand!
Panting heavily, Harry scrambled up behind a stone pillar, using both his hands and feet.
However, before he could even catch his breath, a soft "click" sound came from above.
He looked up and saw a crack opened in the ceiling, from which three small metal arms dangled down. At the end of each metal arm was a circular target that rotated and changed angles, with a small hole in the center of the target pointing directly at him!
"Petrify them all!" Without thinking, Harry fired one of his few offensive spells at one of the targets.
The spell struck the edge of the target, freezing it in place and stopping its operation.
At the same time, the other two targets began to intermittently spew out black liquid, not aiming directly at him, but blocking his possible path of advancement, the ink drawing messy arcs in the air.
With one less metal arm spraying, Harry gained a little breathing space.
However, he could only press himself tightly against the stone pillar, which severely obstructed his view.
Hiding like this isn't a solution.
Harry spotted a gap in the ink spray and suddenly burst out from behind the pillar, trying to get through the area quickly.
However, he had only taken two steps when his foot suddenly slipped! He looked down and saw that the ground in front of him was covered with a layer of transparent, odorless, but extremely slippery oily liquid.
"Ouch!" He lost his balance and fell backward.
As he fell, the walls directly in front of him and to his right opened simultaneously, and more than five streams of liquid shot out from different angles toward the area where he fell!
The two rotating targets in the air also took the opportunity to aim at him.
In a moment of inspiration, Harry pointed his wand to the side: "Yugardim Leviosa!"
He cast a levitation spell on a wooden plank, causing it to float and reveal the gap underneath.
Harry tumbled and rolled under the plank with all his might!
The pitch-black liquid almost grazed his body before shooting into the air, hitting the ground and the oil, splashing up a chaotic cloud of black water.
