Chapter 13 Escape from the Dungeon
Chapter 13 Escape from the Dungeon
tired.
After all that fuss, I can finally rest.
The goblin elder vacated his house for the two of them to stay in.
It was cleaned up fairly well, but goblins are goblins, and that smell lingered for a long time.
Fiona, due to the severity of her injuries, drifted off into a daze and took a short nap.
Lin Qi examined the wound briefly and found no major injuries, so he breathed a sigh of relief.
After an unknown amount of time, Fiona slowly woke up.
Seeing Lin Qi sitting opposite him, staring intently at him, a hint of wariness flashed in his eyes.
With a whoosh, a flash of light appeared in her hand, and a familiar metal sphere appeared in her palm.
"Monster, whatever your intentions, I will..."
Lin Qi's heart skipped a beat when he saw the alchemical shock bomb in her hand.
He slowly raised his hands to indicate that he meant no harm, his tone full of helplessness: "I am Lin Qi."
"We were blown up together by the alchemy stun grenade on the stone bridge, have you forgotten?"
Fiona was taken aback, her expression turning surprised and uncertain.
She stared at him with a frown for a long time, her brows furrowing even more. Her armor had indeed been blown up by the alchemical shock bomb, but why it had been blown up was a complete blank in her mind.
I have no recollection of Lynch, Stone Bridge, or bombs; all I feel is a nagging headache.
She shook her head, her grip on the sword tightening.
"I don't know you. I'm here to wipe out the demons. If you take another step forward, I'll kill you even if it costs me my life."
Seeing the determination in her eyes, Lin Qi sighed.
Fine.
No amount of explanation will help.
Anyway, she's seriously injured right now, so treatment is the priority.
However, he suddenly remembered that he had another skill.
Memory injection!
Looking at the stunned Fiona, Lin Qi fixed his gaze on her fair forehead and murmured a word.
The memory of the stone bridge scene, transmitted to Fiona's mind with some strange fluctuation.
"what!"
Caught off guard, Fiona let out a muffled groan and fainted, her eyes rolling back in her head.
Is she alright?
Lin Qi quickly leaned closer and touched the girl's warm nose with his finger. Her furrowed brows slowly relaxed, and she mumbled a few words in her sleep.
Lin Qi withdrew his hand and breathed a sigh of relief.
For the next two days, he spent most of his time in the secret chamber, calling on the old goblin to bring him food and medicine every day, and occasionally feeding Fiona a sip of water.
Occasionally, he would venture out to collect faith, amidst the awe-inspiring gazes of the goblins.
[Hint: Gudu is staring at you with hatred.]
I receive this every time I walk a little further.
He always managed to receive fierce, greedy glances from goblin warriors hiding somewhere.
Gudu seems to be a bit smarter than the old goblin.
"This is troublesome; we can't stay here any longer."
"We have to leave with Fiona."
After thinking it over, Lynch called the old goblin over.
The old goblin was overly solicitous, offering the god a crumpled animal hide map as requested.
The map was crookedly drawn with all the passages around the underground goblin tribe, clearly marking which path was safe and which had monsters. Even the nearest town on the surface was drawn with a small circle.
Lin Qi looked at the map, his heart filled with joy.
So this old man had it all planned out long ago.
Once Fiona wakes up, run away immediately!
Two days later, Fiona finally opened her eyes.
She blinked blankly at first, then clutched her head and hissed.
"My head hurts so much..."
The next second, countless fragments of memories flooded into my mind.
Stone bridge, alchemy shock bomb, explosion, flying out, fighting to the death with Gudu, being surrounded by goblins, and Lynch's appearance.
I remembered everything.
She abruptly turned to look at Lin Qi, her face instantly flushing red, her eyes filled with guilt and embarrassment, her voice hoarse from just waking up: "Lin Qi! I'm sorry! I was too reckless before, I shouldn't have thrown the Alchemy Shock Bomb around, and I even mistook you for a monster..."
"It's nothing, it's nothing," Lin Qi waved his hand, looking indifferent. "It's not your fault. Who told this place to be so eerie?"
"How are you feeling? If you can walk, let's get out of here quickly."
"There are goblins everywhere here. Right now they mistake me for a god, but if this goes on for too long, they'll be exposed."
Fiona tried to move her arms; although she was still weak, she was already able to walk.
She nodded and grabbed the longsword beside her: "It's alright, I have medicine, I can walk! This is definitely not a place to stay for long."
"This is a Wind Spirit Talisman, this is a Power Talisman, this is a Concealment Talisman, and here's an Alchemy Shock Bomb. If any monsters catch up, just throw it out."
Lin Qi stared in disbelief as Fiona pulled out a bunch of combat items.
Did I overstep my bounds by saving her?
Or perhaps, what he actually saved was a goblin tribe?
After studying the map for a while and determining the route, the two quietly slipped out of their residence.
The goblins all revered Lynch as a god, and the old goblin had specifically instructed them not to disturb the god's rest, so they didn't encounter a single patrolling goblin along the way.
They left the Goblin Kingdom without any problems and headed towards the ground passage.
. . .
The two had only been gone for less than ten minutes.
The old goblin, carrying a bowl of freshly brewed medicine, tiptoed to the door of the secret chamber and whispered, "My lord? It's time to drink your medicine."
I called out three times, but there was no response from inside.
The old goblin's heart skipped a beat, a bad premonition rising in his mind. He gritted his teeth, mustered his courage, and slowly pushed open the stone door.
The secret room was empty.
The tattered animal hide on the stone bed was still there, as were the herbs in the corner, but Lin Qi and the female swordsman had vanished without a trace.
"Clang!"
The medicine bowl fell to the ground and shattered.
The old goblin stood frozen in place, his body stiff, his face filled with astonishment and panic.
"Gods, you have abandoned us."
But then it noticed strange marks on the table.
The old goblin quickly roused himself and slowly moved closer, but he couldn't recognize what the symbol was.
"This, this must be a divine oracle, a divine oracle!"
"The gods will surely return!"
. . .
the other side.
As the long, dark underground passage came to an end, the damp, cold stone walls gradually became rough, and the putrid, foul air in the air slowly thinned out.
Lin Qi felt his pace quicken involuntarily.
Finally, they even started sprinting.
He abandoned the severely injured Fiona, ignoring the girl's cries.
Finally, a narrow opening in the cliff face broke through the darkness, and a blinding ray of intense sunlight poured in through the crack.
This is a hidden cave entrance nestled on the side of a cliff deep in the mountains. It is surrounded by dense ancient forests, with vines and shrubs intertwined. If one is not familiar with the terrain, one would never be able to find the exit of this underground city even if one were to walk right under one's feet.
The moment I stepped out of the cave.
He subconsciously raised his hand to shield his eyes from the glaring light, his narrow eyes squinting slightly as he adjusted to the long-lost natural light.
A crisp, refreshing wind, carrying the damp scent of grass and trees, filled my lungs, a stark contrast to the lingering stench, mold, and blood from the underground.
The warm sunshine fell on my shoulders, a gentle breeze rustled through the trees, and the scent of nature filled the air.
Comfortable!
Relaxation and liberation.
Lynch didn't know how long it had been since he had had this experience.
Fiona followed closely behind and slowly walked out of the cave. She also let out a long breath, her tense back gradually relaxed, and the tension between her brows faded away.
No matter how strong the girl is, she is still only fifteen years old.
The two stood on a narrow platform on a precipice, with overgrown weeds and hanging vines beneath their feet. Ancient trees towered all around, and dense forests blocked out the sun.
"I'm never going underground again, damn it."
Lin Qi muttered to himself.
In the distance, layers of mountains stretched endlessly, and occasionally the deep, fierce roars of magical beasts would pierce through the forests, echoing across the wilderness. To Lin Qi's ears, however, they sounded somewhat pleasant and familiar.
"Ahead lies the border of the Duchy of Vanster, Silverleaf Town."
