Chapter 132 Farewell, Departure, and Banquet
After a while, Li Ang looked at the clock on the wall of the camp; it was almost time to assemble.
He stood up, his gaze sweeping over the crowd, and said in a deep voice, "It's time. Let's go."
The Watchtower Cemetery is located in an open area behind the Wizard's Tower. The white tombstones in the cemetery stand neatly like a silent forest, interspersed with large fields of pink calming flowers. When the breeze blows, the sea of flowers sways, exuding a peaceful and serene atmosphere, soothing all the souls that sleep here.
When Li Ang and his team arrived at the entrance of the cemetery, they happened to run into the members of the Eighth Squad.
"Li Ang, you've already recruited all the team members?" Captain Eric greeted first, his gaze sweeping over the four people behind Li Ang with a hint of surprise in his eyes.
"Yeah, it went pretty smoothly. What about the eighth squad? Haven't they assigned any personnel yet?" Li Ang asked, looking at the four-person squad opposite them.
"We've lost quite a few people this time. Relying solely on the Elementalist School to provide personnel is proving to be insufficient," Eric said with a shake of his head and a sense of helplessness.
Li Ang nodded, having made a general judgment in his mind. It seemed that the recruitment of personnel from other schools of thought should be fully implemented soon.
After chatting with Elisa and the others for a few more minutes, the group quietly entered the cemetery together.
The cemetery was already crowded with people, including members of the law enforcement team from Leli Tower and delegations from Obsidian Tower and Iris Tower.
They naturally divided into three distinct formations according to their respective towers, and everyone waited quietly, with a heavy and sorrowful atmosphere permeating the air.
Soon after, Commander Negan led a team of blue-robed wizards, escorting a dozen coffins made of highly resistant wood as they slowly made their way in.
Each coffin required four attendants to lift, and was covered with a dark blanket embroidered with the emblem of the Enforcement Team's crossed swords.
The ceremony was presided over by Gorman, the faction leader of the Elementalist school. The old wizard, who was known for his volatile temper, looked somber as he read a eulogy for the eight members of the Enforcement Team who died in the Storm Mountains mission, as well as the six gunners and crew members of the Hunter.
His voice then turned impassioned, declaring the Three Towers Alliance's determination to avenge their fallen comrades.
The coffins were placed one by one into the pre-dug graves, standing tall beneath the land they had sworn to protect with their lives. White petals were scattered into the graves, as if as a silent farewell.
After the ceremony, the large procession silently turned toward the largest flight platform inside the tower.
On the platform, a grim scene came into view. Lelita had deployed two [Hunter] gunboats this time, their dark hulls and thick cannons exuding a chilling killing intent.
Beside them were four gunboats from Obsidian Tower and Iris Tower. Although they had fewer cannons, they appeared more maneuverable overall.
In addition, three larger, ordinary airships responsible for transportation were quietly moored to the side.
This time, all three towers have clearly gone all out.
Deacon Celonst and Professor Diana stood side by side at the front of the platform, their auras as imposing as pillars of stability.
Behind them were six carefully selected law enforcement teams, which accounted for almost half of the law enforcement force's combat strength.
Without much conversation, the personnel of the three towers, led by their respective leaders, boarded their respective airships in an orderly manner.
Li Ang and his team stood among the crowd seeing them off, watching the magnificent fleet set sail.
As the hum of the power core inside the airships gradually intensified, the massive airship formation slowly rose into the air, then gradually accelerated, breaking through the clouds and heading headlong towards the battlefield of revenge.
After bidding farewell to the allied fleet that carried the will of revenge, the crowd gathered on the platform slowly dispersed, and Li Ang and his team returned to the tower with the flow of people.
"Alright, don't forget the dinner party tonight." Li Ang stopped and reiterated to the four team members, "Six o'clock sharp, first canteen."
"I'll go reserve a private room first." Sandramea patted her chest, then turned and ran briskly towards the First Dining Hall.
"Yes, Captain," Ludick replied respectfully, adjusting his glasses.
"Don't worry, Captain, we won't be late." Helena nodded with a smile.
Olivia yawned and mumbled sleepily, "Okay—as long as there's food—" Then she dragged her feet, as if looking for a place to catch up on her sleep.
Li Ang shook his head as he watched her retreating figure, and then walked towards the first canteen. He needed to finalize the menu, as the preparation of several main dishes was quite time-consuming.
In the first canteen, Li Ang found Meiya negotiating with a waiter.
She seemed to have already secured the private room, and was standing tall with a proud expression on her face, as if she had accomplished her mission.
"Li Angqing, the private room is booked, the Glory Room," Mei Ya reported happily as soon as she saw Li Ang.
"Thank you for your hard work, Your Highness." Li Ang nodded, then turned to the waiting waiter beside him and began to browse the menu.
Considering the team members' tastes and possible appetites, he ordered several of the First Canteen's signature dishes: roasted ibex leg, creamy wild mushroom stew, steamed jade fish, and herb-stewed beef, as well as a generous amount of white bread and vegetable salad. After hesitating for a moment, he added a whole roasted chicken and a large plate of meat sauce noodles.
"As for drinks—" Li Ang thought that not everyone might like the bitterness of ale, and that he would be on patrol duty tomorrow morning, so the alcohol content should not be too high.
"Give me a bucket of fruit wine, the kind with a low sugar content."
The waiter quickly took notes with a pen and paper. After confirming the quantity and private room information with Li Ang, he left.
Looking at the drinks Li Ang ordered, Mei Ya said with some disappointment, "Li Ang, what you ordered doesn't even count as alcohol; it's more like juice."
Li Ang patiently explained, "Your Highness, our team will be on a mission early tomorrow morning, this is just to be on the safe side."
Upon hearing that she could go on a mission tomorrow, Maya's disappointed expression immediately vanished, and she exclaimed excitedly, "That's fantastic! Li Angqing, tomorrow I can finally show off my skills!"
After finishing these tasks, Li Ang checked the time. There was only half an hour left before the agreed time, and leaving the restaurant any longer seemed unnecessary. So the two of them sat in the private room and began chatting about tomorrow's tasks.
Time passed second by second, and the hour hand on the clock gradually pointed to six o'clock. Ludick and Helena arrived one after the other.
Rudik changed into a sharp tailcoat, looking somewhat nervous and expectant, while Helena was still dressed in her brown robe, but she seemed to have put on light makeup, making her look a bit more dazzling than usual.
Finally, just before the appointed time, Olivia appeared at the door.
