Chapter 49 The Paladin of Serene
Chapter 49 The Paladin of Serene
Having practiced for some time, I looked out the window and saw that it was almost evening.
The afterglow of the setting sun, intense as fire, spread like a blanket across the rooftops and streets of Baldur's Gate.
Another day has passed. Ronan plans to go to the Elf Song Tavern to order some dishes and a few glasses of delicious fruit wine to relax, and also to catch up on the latest news from the Forgotten Realms and see if there are any quests to do.
It was the time when people from all walks of life in Baldur's Gate were leaving work. Under the setting sun, craftsmen, merchants, sailors, clerks... humans, dwarves, gnomes, halflings, goblins... walked in twos and threes down the street, complaining about the troubles of their day's work and talking about the embarrassing things that happened to others, as they headed home.
Some people, like Ronan, headed towards the Elf Song Tavern.
Most of them were bachelors like Ronan, with no one to cook at home and too lazy to cook themselves, so they went to the Elf Song Tavern to eat.
And while you're at it, order a few drinks to relieve the fatigue that's accumulated throughout the day.
Ronan, wearing a hood, entered the Elf Song Tavern.
Given his current charisma, many people would be eager to team up with him if he took off his hood.
However, the quests that these adventurers bring along are of varying quality.
He also has to spend time communicating and screening.
However, even with his hood up, his charisma naturally exudes charm in his figure, back view, and every gesture.
Any adventurer with a strong sense of perception will surely discover him.
Moreover, his appearance was not disguised, and people who knew him would strike up a conversation with him.
He can inquire about the mission when the time comes.
At the bar, Ronan ordered Wade cheese bread, Rigg's game stew, and a large glass of mead.
"Sir, we have some new dishes at our restaurant recently. Would you like to try them?" the half-elf owner, Ellis, said to Ronan.
Ellis had seen Ronan several times before Ronan needed to conceal his appearance, and at that time Ronan was already quite charming, so he certainly remembered Ronan as a customer.
Even though Ronan's face was hidden in the shadow cast by his hood, he recognized him immediately.
"What kind of dishes?" Ronan asked.
"Karatu fried noodles," Ellis said.
"Oh?" Ronan's eyes lit up slightly upon hearing this.
Everyone knows what Karatu looks like.
Elis deliberately told him this, probably because he was a Karatu.
Ellis said, "I bought this recipe from a bard who had traveled the continent of Karatu."
"And the noodles were cooked by our halfling chef, who is an expert in making meat sauce noodles."
"I recommended it to several adventurers today, and they all said it was delicious."
"So, I want you, a Karatu, to have a taste too."
Ronan was naturally very interested in the fried noodles and immediately ordered a serving.
Soon, the dishes and wine were served.
Ronan looked at the bowl of noodles, which was stained with sauce and sprinkled with various chopped vegetables, beef cubes, and black pepper.
He couldn't wait any longer, so he picked up a fork, speared a handful of noodles, and slurped them into his mouth.
"Um……"
Ronan narrowed his eyes slightly.
The taste is nothing special.
It's fair to say that this stir-fried noodle dish only looked good; the texture and taste of the noodles fell far short of his expectations.
He might as well have done it himself.
He guessed that perhaps the recipe was devised by a bard after eating fried noodles, rather than being taught by a fried noodle master from the continent of Karatu.
"What's wrong?" Ellis asked, noticing Ronan's subtle expression.
"Does anyone really say it's delicious?" Ronan asked.
"They are not human..." Ellis said.
Ronan: "..."
"Mr. Jonas, what a coincidence."
Just as Ronan and Ellis were looking at each other, a slender figure, also wearing a hood, sat down next to Ronan.
Looking at the full lips and perfect chin peeking out from the shadows, he knew that this was the drow paladin Theras.
"Mr. Jonas, you also ordered Caratou fried noodles." Seras's eyes lit up when he saw the fried noodles in front of Ronan. "This is my lunch today. I must say, this new dish at the tavern is really good!"
"Thank you for the compliment, ma'am!" said Ellis, the half-elf, then gave Ronan a wink.
"Ellis, give me this for dinner tonight too," Seras said.
"Yes, ma'am, I'll be right there," Ellis said, and then left.
Ronan looked at Seras again, subconsciously focusing his mind.
Seras's panel then appeared before him.

'A paladin? A follower of Selenia?'
These two identities coexist in one drow elf?
Ronan felt he couldn't understand the drow elf's stats anymore.
He then noticed the racial characteristics of this drow elf.
He remembered that Seras's previous stats included a racial trait called "sunlight sensitivity," meaning that his attack power and vision would be weakened under sunlight.
But after she believed in Serene, this trait disappeared.
